Ativan Generic is an anti-anxiety medication used to treat panic attacks, neurosis-like conditions, and various disorders caused by stress.

Pharmacological Action

The active substance in Ativan Generic has central muscle relaxant, hypnotic, anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant, and antiemetic effects. It is used to treat panic attacks and reduce anxiety.

According to the instructions, Ativan Generic is not effective for hallucinatory or affective disorders. It is not recommended as the primary treatment for psychotic disorders such as depression or anxiety associated with it. Long-term use may lead to tolerance, reduced effectiveness, drug dependence, and addiction.

Indications

Ativan Generic should be used if you have:

• Sleep disorders caused by anxiety or short-term stress
• Epilepsy and status epilepticus, often in combination therapy
• Psychoreactive states and phobias
• Emotional reactive states
• Psychosomatic disorders and headaches related to respiratory, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and other internal organ diseases
• Endogenous psychoses, including manic and catatonic states, as well as anxiety and agitation in schizophrenia

Contraindications

Ativan Generic should not be used if you have:

• Angle-closure glaucoma
• Myasthenia gravis
• Alcohol intoxication
• Intoxication with psychotropic drugs
• Hypersensitivity to lorazepam or other components of the drug

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Ativan Generic should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, or during breastfeeding. The tablet form of the drug can be used starting from 12 years of age.

Dosage

Ativan Generic is usually prescribed in a daily dose of 2 mg, divided into 3 doses.
