How It Works

Doxycycline works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which stops the growth and reproduction of bacteria. Its mechanism includes:

• Binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit – prevents the addition of new amino acids during translation.
• Broad antimicrobial coverage – active against various pathogens including Rickettsia, Chlamydia, and Mycoplasma.

Usage

• Administration: Taken orally with a full glass of water, ideally on an empty stomach or as directed by a healthcare provider.

• Recommended dosage: Typically 100 mg twice daily, though may vary depending on the infection type and severity.

Precautions

Before using Doxycycline, consider the following precautions:

• Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking the tablet to avoid esophageal irritation.
