Alavert (Loratadine)

Purpose

Alavert (Loratadine) is a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve symptoms associated with seasonal allergies and other allergic conditions. It is effective in reducing sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the throat or nose caused by histamine release during allergic reactions.

How It Works

Loratadine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance produced by the body during allergic responses. This leads to:

• Reduced allergy symptoms – alleviates nasal congestion, sneezing, and eye irritation.
• Long-lasting relief – provides up to 24 hours of symptom control.
• Minimal sedation – does not typically cause drowsiness at standard doses.

Usage

• Administration: Taken orally once daily, with or without food. Tablets may be chewable or dissolvable depending on the formulation.
• Effectiveness: Begins to work within 1 hour after administration.
• Recommended dosage: 10 mg daily for adults and children over 6 years, or as directed by a healthcare provider.

Precautions

Storage

Store Alavert (Loratadine) at room temperature in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
